Charleston Learning Center to Offer Google Career Certificates
Community News

Charleston Digital (CDC) is pleased to announce the Charleston Learning Center is partnering with Google to offer residents of the Tri-county area scholarships for Google Career Certificates in seven high-demand paths. The career learning paths include AI Essentials; Cybersecurity; Data Analytics; Digital Marketing and E-Commerce; IT Support; Project Management; and UX Design.
While a majority of new jobs created since 2010 require medium to high-level digital skills, currently one in three American workers have very limited to no digital skills. To help bridge the gap, the Google Career Certificates will prepare individuals for a new career in a high-growth field in three to six months. The self-paced courses will be offered through the Coursera’s online learning platform and do not require any previous experience.
While the program has an employer consortium of over 150 companies — including Walmart, Verizon and Google — Charleston Digital expects to identify and connect employers in the Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston counties who are actively seeking talent with strong digital skills.
"Investing in a skilled workforce helps support today's job needs and also builds a stronger workforce for the future. Google is proud to partner with Charleston Digital to drive innovation, growth, and opportunity across the Lowcountry," said Amber Tillman, Google’s Head of Data Center Public Affairs.
“We are honored Google has selected the Charleston Learning Center to bring the Google Career Certificates to our community,” said Charleston Digital Executive Director, Ernest Andrade. “I am confident that individuals successfully completing these certificates will enjoy better employment and economic outcomes.”
To learn more about the Google Career Certificates program, interested individuals can attend an Open House at the Charleston Learning Center on June 25th at 12:00pm or visit charlestonlc.org/certificates.
