Sabal Medical Launches New SabalRx? Pharmacy Software at Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center

Charleston, South Carolina (April 19, 2010) -- Sabal Medical, Inc., a privately held company whose products are helping hospitals deliver medications to their patients more safely and efficiently, announced today that their customer, Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS), went live March 30, 2010 with Sabal's new comprehensive pharmacy medication supervisory system, SabalRx(tm).

GHS, located in Greenville County, SC, is a multi-campus, state-of-the-art 1,268-bed system committed to medical excellence through its patient care, research and education. One of their challenges involves coordination of accurate and timely medication dispensing within their central pharmacy operation, which includes unit dose inventory stored in dispensing robots, strip packagers, carousels, and shelf locations. SabalRx(tm) receives patient and order data from the hospital's information system, compares patient order information to the various inventory locations, and orchestrates the automatic dispensing and bar code scanning of all medications destined for the nursing units. The system also provides automated quality auditing for picked medications and automates previous day medication returns through bar code scanning and a billing interface.
